Karma Acoustic Overlayplus 26 is a type of Overlay Board designed for installation on top of a Timber Deck to minimise impact and airborne sound transmission. It is made up of an 18mm T7G4 chipboard bonded to an 8mm resilient layer made from recycled foam. This product delviers slightly better impact sound insulation than Karma Acoustic Overlay 23.

Application & Installation

Before installing Karma Acoustic OverlayPlus on a pre-completion testing separating timber floor, please follow these guidelines:
Ensure that the building is substantially watertight before beginning the installation process.
Insert 100mm x 45kg/m3 insulation between the floor joists. If being inserted from below, cut the insulation slabs to a larger size to achieve a tight fit, and use off-cuts to fill any gaps. If inserting from above, some or all floorboards may need to be lifted temporarily.
Ensure that the existing floorboards or new chipboard flooring are clean, level, free of debris, and securely fixed to the floor joists.
Attach Karma Acoustic Perimeter Strip to the base of walls in all perimeter areas before installing Karma Acoustic OverlayPlus. Offer up the board so that it butts up against the perimeter strip without compressing it too much.
Begin installation of Karma Acoustic OverlayPlus in the furthest corners of the room and work back towards door openings.
Cut tongues off joints in the Karma Acoustic OverlayPlus to achieve a square edge that abuts the previously fitted Karma Acoustic Perimeter Strip.
Lay Karma Acoustic OverlayPlus in a brick bond pattern across the floor, using plenty of PVA adhesive in the T&G joints of the panels.
Fill any gaps between the edge of the Karma Acoustic OverlayPlus and the Karma Acoustic Perimeter Strip with acoustic sealant. Do not screw fix into the Karma Acoustic floor, except for temporary measures while adhesive in the T&G joints is setting.
Note: Due to the product's nature, a small percentage of boards may have minor edge detail damage, and they should be used where "cutting in" is required.
Full installation instructions are available and must be used in conjunction when installing floor systems.
